Firefighters & EMS Personnel to be Honored at 2009 Opening Ceremonies

Alabama firefighters and emergency medical service personnel will be honored on live statewide television at the Alabama Sports Festival Games XXVII Opening Ceremonies, June 19th 2009 at 7 p.m. at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex Arena.


Firefighters and EMS personnel with a minimum of ten years of service will be eligible to receive the Medal of Service.  The Medal of Service is for active, volunteer, retired, disabled, or deceased firefighters and EMS personnel.  The Medical of Sacrifice will be presented on behalf of all firefighters and EMS personnel killed in the line of duty, regardless of their length of service, and will be presented to a family member.
